Dear Santa,
I ask my mom the other day how good I was this year .
She replied 'ahhhh,a little bad mixed in with good ,but
Santa's coming ,never fear "
So ,I started a list and it was getting real long ,
when a commercial on TV caught my eye .
A shelter full of dogs and cats no one wanted
and they were going to die .
I sat there and listened to the woman say .
it was free to adopt one on that next day .
My mom watched with me and I looked up at her to see
Tears running down her face and then she smiled at me .
"Mom ," I said " lets get one of those pets "
"Son ,there are alot of issues we would need ,food ,toys ,a vet '
"I don;t know if I can afford all that ,gifts you want and my normal bills
But don't worry about them son ,some won;t find homes but some will "
I looked down at my wish list and shook my head ,stood up and said "well...,I 'll finish this tomorrow , I 'm off to bed
"
I then went into my room and thought of all the things
I had on my list ,clothes ,toys ,bike ,computer games ..........
I suddenly got down on my knees and ask God if he would please
just help my mom and me get one of these
Animals that had no home and no one to care
And I fell asleep right then and there .
The next monring I awoke to find
The animals still entrenched in my mind
I went into the kitchen and then I found my mom
making my breakfast and I could hear her hum
A tune about Christmas and how to share
All of God's gifts that he had put here .
"Mom , I will give up all the gifts under the tree ,
if you will go to the shelter with me
And adpot a little dog or even a cat
We can save one mom ,just think of that ......"
My mother turned and looked about our home .
then looked over at me still humming that song ...
" Well.....' my mom suddely said " lets get going son'
we want to get there early to get us one '
The day was as wonderful as Christmas Eve could be
We chose one cat for my mom and a dog for me .
So ,Santa tonight I don't want a single gift under that tree
I got all I want for Christmas this Eve .
Next year ,well I think I want ...... that bike and a couple computer games and a new basketball and ...etc...etc....etc....
